KOUNA was founded by Dr. Spurthy K and Hari Prasad S, two Bengaluru-based founders who shared a simple idea: sun protection should be a natural part of everyday life.
While living in China, Dr. Spurthy noticed how naturally people incorporated sun protection into their daily routines. UV-protective clothing was commonly worn while commuting, travelling, exercising, working, or spending time outdoors. Returning to India, she saw an opportunity to bring the same ease and practicality of sun protection to everyday life in India.
In India, despite our intense and year-round sun exposure, awareness around prolonged UV exposure and everyday protection is still growing.
This inspired a simple vision — to make sun protection more accessible, practical, and stylish for everyday life in India.
